We are setting up multiple tanks and a new fuel pump on our farm. These are bulk fuel tanks to fill equipment. We are going to go with a 35 gpm pump. On our current system we have one small filter and it seems to be slow when cold (winter). We think we should have a double filter system. My question is what are guys using? Also where did you source your pump and filter housing? We are located in southwest Manitoba.

Crayons, does that happen to be a 1 1/2 inch pipe thread head by any chance. I've forgotten the brand of the head assembly I have and it is only a single filter head but its a large filter with high flow and is a water capturing filter as well, the downside to the filter I am using is its a course type of medium which gives excellent flow for a single filter and in my case gravity flow tanks. As to the filter size and the filter heads, I believe its the same system they use on commercial high capacity pumps at truck fuel stations. Small filter heads and filters meant for low flow diesel or gasoline pumps just won't cut it for high flow systems, that is for sure.

Use a sewage pump. $500 will get ya 45gpm. It will last a long time. I see a lot more gas powered water pumps with a Viton seal.

For insurance purposes, I'd stick with a fuel-rated pump with an explosion-proof motor.

Not sure it fits in here but dont cheap out on fuel equipment. Buy fil rite brand instead of off brand no name fuel parts. I was at the coop last year and bought one fil rite auto shut off nozzle, for around 200 bucks and one no name brand for around 45 bucks to save some money. Well , the no name auto shut off nozzle is a pos. The diesel fil rite nozzle works perfectly. My helper last spring thought he filled my truck up and thought it was full and drove off only to run out of gas because he heard the auto shut off and stopped the fill up process. Quality is worth the extra money. This would apply to gas filter housings also I would think.
