Looking at purchasing a Macdon swather in these year ranges, but just curious what the difference really is between these model years? Only thing that seems different to me is the body panel styling, and the newer units having electronic readouts on machine functions instead of gauges. Also, the newer units are a third to twice more in price. Is there really anything of substance that is be gained that makes it worth it to spend more to get a newer unit? All of the units I am considering also have the Cummins turbo engine with 2 speed in it, and the large rear tires. Not so concerned with headers as they can be exchanged to different ones if need be. Thanks

I have run both models and yes really no big differences except for the body panels and the 2000 and newer models use powder coated paint. Only big difference is the 972 header on the newer models but like you said , you can exchange headers. Check the powerwheel number. I think in 2000 they made a heavy duty powerwheel in the 9352 and similar models. I believe they call it an eight, where as the older models are a 6. Check those numbers! Actually you may find that to be a difference maker. Excellent windrowers and really how much they get used now on the farm a decent machine for the price.
