I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy fancy maps that show all of the information collected by the government back in the 1970s? Or whenever this soil survey was done. I was just looking at some land that was advertised as 92 percent #1 soil. Way out of my price range. But, it led me to wonder what the land is that I own. We were mostly cow/calf until 15 years ago and due to economics have been swinging more and more acres into grain. I searched long enough on stupid government websites to find my answer. Most of our land is #5 or #6. For future purchases, I would like the information provided by these maps on a smaller scale than what the website I am attaching below. Sounds like owning one of these maps by County/RM is a pretty common thing if you were under 30 back in the 1970s and live in good farming country. As this attach map shows, this information must be available somewhere. Is it hidden from the tax payers, or am I too dumb to be able to find it? I would love to take a file to a printing company and get a few big maps printed out of the country surrounding our farm. Thank you for your input. sis.agr.gc.ca/cansis/publications/maps/cli/1m/agr/cli_1m_agr_alberta.jpg
