The advantage of that type insurance is it is beneficial for Agristability since it doesnt count as an allowable income. Provincial crop insurance counts as an allowable income and almost always puts you out of any federal government relief payment. It will be interesting next month when Manitoba releases the crop values per bushel. I think our insurance rates will double at least but at least the coverage should be good. How popular is Gars in Manitoba? I know for big farms in SASK it is a popular option.
I still would not go without it even though I have paid in more than received lately. The countless weather events happening and expensive inputs and machinery prices can put a guy in a tough spot. However some still decide to go without. I also would be interested in farmers experience with gars. What is the insurance company linked to farmers edge data.
