Have a 6180 Massey tractor that for about 3 years now can’t get coolant to flow up to the heater core at anything less than wide open. Can’t find the problem and only use it for pushing snow in the winter so am tired of trying to find the issue. Was thinking of putting an inline pump in the heater line. I know that’s not how to fix it, but I was damn cold today pushing snow! Any suggestions for what pump might work, everything I can find is for campers or light duty that I don’t think would last very long in a tractor.

Wide open throttle or are you talking about the setting on the heater knob?
Just a thought if there was any car warmers that run on 12V or are they all 120V?

Wide open throttle, fan works good, heater core is clean, have had everything apart and all is good, just won’t circulate it up to the top of the cab.

Changed them, changed all hoses, pulled the pump and was good. Flushed everything. New rad cap. Starting to lean towards head gasket.

Could there be an air lock if the heater core is the highest point?

Thinking along Swman thoughts, maybe a skid loader or UTV supplemental heater?
I'm following your 12 volt pump idea but it would have to be pretty low volume I'd think.
Do you have your grill and engine compartment sealed up? What's engine temp show?

I remember you asking about this before couple years back or so. As I will have said then, its a circulation problem most likely caused by air in the system, dead giveaway is that it works when engine is wound out. Other than being improperly plumbed, as in hoses backwards ect, like simple shit, possibility its a water pump issue. I can't remember what all you did but there is something somewhere being overlooked.

Engine temperature is good, it’s even like this when it’s warm out. You would think after a couple years if there was air in it it should have worked it’s way out. We have some land about 15 miles away and on the way over I have to turn the heat down because it will melt you out, but literally the second I let off the throttle it’s ice cold.
Had the pump off and it looks like new, the dealer said they have never seen an issue with a pump that would cause this.
Maybe if it’s still an airlock problem, a small inline pump might rectify it? I’ve tried everything to get any air out.

I forgot to mention, it won’t even push coolant up to the core with the lines disconnected from the core at idle.

I've seen issues with pumps before. Most often caused by improper impeller location. For a dealer to say it never happens tells me they don't know their ass from a hole in the ground....

What do you mean by improper impeller location? Like it’s slid on the shaft? When we had it off, it looked like new.

See its like this, it obviously works when the pump is wound out, but once you slow the engine down, you lose flow. A few thou out of place with the impeller will cause that depending on the style and type of pump. I have seen it in everything from Cummins to v8 Ford gas job

Kevlar get me the actual numbers off that engine, a pic of the tag would work probably. I have some of the newer Perkins manuals, I will see if I have the right one and if there is any specs on the pump, then at least if you pull it off you can check it.

Been thinking about this to try and keep my brain from freezing in this weather😡. What if you run it at full throttle with the rad cap off. Once you get heat to the core top off the rad and cap it up. Might help purge any air.
