Just wondering why it's gotten so quiet, not only on this forum, but have noticed it on a few others as well. There are a couple other forums I lurk on, well, that's all I can do on the one because I'm banned from posting , and they only have a handful of posts each day. Is everyone just sick of talking because of covid? Had too many arguments about it that nobody wants to talk about anything now? Just nothing else going on in the world? These other forums aren't farm related so it seems that way with regular everyday topic sites. Is it because the only thing in the news is covid so we don't have anything else to talk about? I used to sit down some mornings and have a coffee and try catch up on what was happening on a couple of forums and usually couldn't read all the posts before I had to go, now it only takes maybe 10 minutes to read through everything. If I don't keep using up all my free time reading these sites, my wife will start wanting me get some of the odd jobs done around here! I tell her I'm doing farm research when I'm here! lol

I haven't been super active on forums for quite some time now, I'm too opinionated, blunt and rude when the discussions get heated so I just end up pissing everyone off anyway so what's the point? Been on forums since I was like 14 years old and not much has changed over the years even though I do occasionally try to be less abrasive but can't seem to pull it off...
Not even joking. I still come read here but after the last blow up in the covid thread I'm doing my level best to just shut up. I'm sure most of you appreciate that anyway.

Twitter seems quiet also. I don’t look at this one much cause most of you only talk politics and covid, and that’s gets pretty old. At this point of covid no one is changing anyone’s mind. There is very little farming talk on here. Old combine forum is actually better now, but also quiet. Scrolling Instagram for hot rods and bikini pics for the win.

A different opinion is needed. How is a topic debated if everyone is on the same side.

Got banned from the cbc news mb comment section yesterday. I couldnt stand all the NDP comments harping on our conservative hopefuls. I guess cbc found it upsetting that the NDP vote is in support of a drunk, woman abusing indian! I was just stating facts! Man that makes trudeaus black face look pretty tame. Appreciate beerwiser lets free speech fly.

I wonder if the widespread crop failure has something to do with it. Maybe with no crop less people are upgrading equipment, that always seems to have people talking about what the best option is or what model or brand to look for. Less money, less to talk about?

For me it is just the time of year. I hate what is coming and it always puts me is a almost a screw you all mood and leave me alone. Until I get the +30 temps, nice long days etc out of my head I really don't want to do anything but the bare minimum. What is interesting is I have noticed that everyone everywhere is quiet. Usually have a couple of beers with the neighbors on a regular basis, haven't had beers with them since harvest finished. Brief conversations on the road, that is it. On the non ag side is the same, one other forum I visit which is huge is totally dead considering. Same for the one stupid game I play. I usually go there to joke around more than anything, but dead quiet. There is no political or covid talk there either, so I don't know what is going on with the world. Maybe people are getting glued to all the new movies and crap that is showing up now. Or maybe everyone has had enough of the digital world telling us what to think and they are in my boat, just leave me alone lol.

My view is something is brewing. Have a sister in law that starts next week taking a month off work on stored up sick days because she isn't getting the injection, and then she gets put on unpaid leave. I am watching all the service sectors in the US looking to be fired next week for not getting injected. Then the kids are supposed to start getting injected starting Nov 5 I beleive (5 to 11 year olds injection starts 11-5).
So basically next couple weeks will have a lot of turmoil if our totalitarian regimes go unchecked. And we see how many people support this.
With this all being a definite fact, it leaves me sitting and waiting. I sure am not planning anything. Don't even know if I will be putting in a crop next year. Seriously.
There are some projects I might want to do over the winter but have not planned or started thinking about a single on. If the supply chain crap goes on longer then why bother.
About the only big thing I have decided is regarding the combine. Got about 2700 threshing hours on the 2388 and a guy needs to consider trading off or another good going through. Unless something drastically changes it seems sending to dealer for good check over this spring will be my plan.
So not much to ask people about since right now I don't have anything to plan.

OK, glad to see it's not just my imagination. I can see why the ag side would be quieter than normal but for many of the other sites to be slow makes me wonder. I think for farming next year, the weather is going to be the least of our worries, maybe the same for everyone else too? I think the economy is a lot further in the tank than what most people believed it is. My observations have been very quiet main streets and malls, either people don't have the money or are saving up for a bumpy ride, likely the former as most people don't save money these days. When people don't have money, they don't do much to talk about. It's never changed what I do because I've never really had much money so know how to entertain myself when money is tight!

Ya it could be some suspense going on...
Looking forward to start trapping a few coyotes mid month or so and maybe a bit of hunting and fishing too. Fishing was good right at home this year so that was a bonus.
Our last 300 of flax was a challenge as even though we sprayed it this year for the first time in years it still did not want to quit growing...finally got it last week at 11.7 and the sample looked fairly decent.
Started pulling a couple combines apart, hopefully get em parked this week.
Then watch the political gong show unfold in the weeks to come...hopefully the pendulum will start swaying back to more sense...if not I don't know.

Pretty much ready for winter here, have a couple loads of last years oats to haul home so it's in the yard, hope to use it for seed next year, but maybe this years crop might be better for seed, god knows it now has drought tolerance in it! Got the trailer dragged out that I'm going to use for my cabin, looks like I need to get some tires for it first! lol
I always look forward to the change in seasons, I like them all, and like the change in hobbies that come with the seasons.
Optimism for next years crop certainly was a lot higher two months ago than it is now, but who knows, maybe it will be better than I'm expecting. That's what happened this year.

Like Beer busy getting ready for winter. Till recently been fairly nice so pretty much daylight till dark every day. I haven't really noticed things on Twitter slowing down, but then most of what I get in my feed is more information/news based, I like to avoid the drama as much as possible that rears up in many of the more personal discussions lol. I've been unfollowing more than a few too that simply won't shut about covid or politics, just the same thing over and over everyday, no thanks, don't need that. Again like this site, only tour thru while having coffee after a meal or such. I suspect a lot of our Yankee friends are busy with corn yet too.
Speaking of which, anyone who still goes over the dark side, Makar sent me a message over there, I got an email with part of it showing, however I've been logged out on that site and not sure where my password sticky note is, so could someone send him a message and tell him to ask me here or perhaps someone like NF, you could pass along my email. He was asking something about those Binkley/Wilbeck/Stieger discs. Thanks.
Speaking of twitter, things like this can't help but make one laugh, enjoy, happy halloween

It’s been so nice out that we have been busy with projects before it’s too cold or snow covering the ground.
I wonder if people are just getting burnt out on digital platforms. Between work from home and not a lot of social functions last little while online was the only thing to keep connected.
