Just curious if there is any Jeep enthusiasts on here or if anyone knows one?
Long and short, I got a 1973 Jeep Commando that should have a new home where it will get some attention.
My father bought this thing back in the late 80s, I had a Scout II back then I mostly run with the top off and he thought that was pretty slick. It had the 345 in it, power out its ass but oh so heavy on the front end, first sight of mud and you buried the front axle.
So the old man is at this sale down in Mundare at a dealership that was closing down I believe, and they had been using this thing as a run around delivering parts ect. Given the little Jeep only had a small inline 6 in it, old man figured it would be better in the mud than my Scout.
And like my Scout, the whole top comes off as well, the old man he wanted his convertible LOL, but he never did take it off.
He never licensed or insured it, but he did use it a bit checking cows and such, but very soon it he come to the same conclusion I did, walking home after getting them stuck out in a pasture sucked lol.
And that is when it began to just sit. At the time tires were all good, brakes were good, little truck drove great, had a bit of hiccup on one cylinder as I recall, I remember tinkering with it a bit for him once and confirmed it was something other than spark.
Fast forward to today...it come along with the balance of inventory when I bought that out of his estate years ago now, originally my younger brother wanted it, which was all cool, but over the years his interest evaporated and so the little truck just sits there.
Its something I will never do anything with, if one wanted to restore it, the sooner the better. As far as I know or can see, its all there, name plates, original hubcaps and such. Has some other mirror bred on to it.
My main reason for asking if someone is into Jeeps or knows of one who is...and that is I have no idea at all really what the little truck is worth.
Restored they're well over 20K. But dammed if I can find any suggestions for one that needs a lot of TLC and body work as it does have some rust.
If someone wanted I can post some pics tomorrow, I didn't mean to go off in some lengthy explanation, just curious if anyone has some knowledge on what it might be worth as is. Its not siezed, brakes have leaked off, but I'm positive with a battery and bit of juice I'd have it running in under an hour.
