Had a hail storm on aug 23. Took all the leaf off the plants. Hail adjuster says 38% pods damaged. They are firm on this. I think losing all the leaf at this stage will give more loss in yield than just pod loss. Had lentils all around this 50 acre field that averaged 23 bushels an acre. The beans were in the best land an only yield 6 bushels an acre. Am I wrong in thinking this?

No leaves will affect seed size on every pod. I'm no expert on lentils or even black beans, but does even a 38% yield reduction on the beans give about the same result as the lentil yield? If it's like here the later crops did much better with the extra rain, thinking you got some rain with the hail?

Lentils were off before the hail. Around 5 inches of rain
