I was asked by my local baler to drop my canola straw in windrows. They said they didnt have much experience baling canola straw but wanted to give it a try on some acres. I decided against it because I didnt want anymore tracks on my field. I would have let them try on some acres but I was disappointed because they could not pay me for the straw. I am not giving it away for free or risk getting my field packed !
I was wondering what guys are getting per 4 by 4 by 8 square canola bales. Is there a market for this kind of straw.

10 or so for a 900lbs ish round bale, that is for barley/ wheat/ oats. I am not sure what the 4x4x8 bale would come in at or how much the canola straw would even weigh. The only thing I would consider using combined canola straw for is bedding and I think it would be a bitch to pick up.

If the straw is a little green or tough it’s not too bad to pick up. All it is used for would be bedding.
