I’m presuming there won’t be much in the way of combine discussion on here in the next few months due to the shitte crop conditions in Canada? If it is some sort of comfort, it does rain eventually. Hopefully you don’t have to endure 3-5 years of drought in a row - as some of us in OZ went through. That’s when it’s character building!

Looking like it will be an easy year on the fuel bill for combines this year. Wear on tear on combines seem to be less then when your fighting mud also.

I am worried it will pour rain when the combines are backed out of the shed in August. That would be a real kick to some producers with half a crop. I have heard a few producers west of rosenort thinking its will be a really quiet harvest.

East of Winnipeg only 2 1/2 inches since April 15, 30 % of normal precip. cracks in the wheat up to my elbow. Wheat dried out bad maybe half a crop. Tops of the heads are empty. Canola looks terribly thin not sure how the few pods would even fill. Oats might not be too bad. Soybeans hanging on but hurting all day wouldn’t expect more than 15 bushels out of them. No chance of a second cut hay , looks like it was sprayed out.

Welcome Snowmobile, unfortunately your description is the same as mine. Most guys are hoping for the white combine to show.

…… that person at the steering wheel of the “white combine” …… I’m thinking would need to have very good eyesight & driving skills to actually harvest anything!

Welcome Snowmobile, unfortunately your description is the same as mine. Most guys are hoping for the white combine to show. Back when I sold hail insurance i had a customer that would increase his coverage in years like this. His logic was that since hail pays based on percentage of the crop, not bushels, with an extremely thin crop he only needed a few hail stones to bounce once or twice and he would be 100% hailed out.

I never buy insurance and I can see that line of reasoning, but one guy said to me he hoped the crop was thick enough that it would show the hail damage! So maybe too thin isn't good either? Welcome snowmobile, that used to be my favorite hobby before I got married and had kids and maybe the farm growing 250% might have screwed my leisure time up a bit too. Maybe since there will be less grain to haul this winter if we can get snow some riding will be possible. Rod we can still talk about combines, I'm actually excited to get my new to me machines in the field this fall. Rained ten miles north of me today and decent amount an hour north, so still some hope it can here.
