Got a half section of liberty canola that has taken a beating. Between flea beetles and crusting and weak small liberty seeds (my theory only on the small seeds) only have 1-2 plants per square foot. Rep told me to reseed but not interested in that in the middle of June. Will a thin stand like that amount to anything ?

I hope so. I have one similar to that. Not Liberty though. Had a poor catch with it being so dry, some came up good over 2 weeks ago, some just coming up now, hoping it will fill in a bit more but sure not looking great, noticed some flea beetles in it tonight now for the first time. I'm sure even with a thin stand it should turn out fine, I've always noticed the areas around a spot that drowns out it thin but has way bigger plants, hard to compare yield though. Heard today there are still guys reseeding canola around here because of beetles. Personally I think it's getting a little on the late side, can't have too many stretches of poor weather if you want it to make it. With good moisture and warm soil it does jump up quick though.

If your plants are within a full step of each other you will be ok. 1 per yard can still make 70 bushels/acre. Just have to keep it clean.

One plant per square foot you will still be ok. Don't expect a bumper crop, but not worth reseeding. If you're getting close to two plants per square foot, absolutely nothing to worry about. I'm guessing shmiffy is talking from experience on the one plant per yard, but I do find that hard to believe. Definitely wouldn't feel comfortable with that.

Like others have said one plant a square foot is still ok, I’ve had just shy of 70 bu with less than a plant a foot, like others said just keep a eye on it and keep it clean
