Telus came to my father and asked to put a 103 meter tower on our home place. What is weird is that there is a tower 1 mile by the crow fly away that is also telus. I told him straight up no, I dont believe in living so close to one from the frequencies. The other is that it would be a eye sore. I thought to ask here to see if I can get some answers before than me trying to find info on the web and reading through legal jargon.
How much compensation does one get? They are asking for an area of 200 by 200 meters which is 10 acres.
Since I can look and there will be the conspiracy theories that say how bad then look on a different source and says that it is all safe. Has anyone experience an physical symptoms? I once was on a plane and the guy next to me said that he has to wear a hat to block out the wifi on the plane because he can feel the affects of this. Where I couldnt feel anything but what I will say, that what he says is crazy because he feels something in his own body.
What is the closest a tower can be from a residence? I cant see it being that far do to seeing them in the city across the fence from houses?
One of the reason that they would come to us is because there is 3 phase power at the corner of the farm and the tower would need that to run and have batteries for the backup. I dont know much about towers and how they run to know if this is something.
Anything else I should research or know about?

IDK anything about this or what the guy on the plane could feel.
What I do know is when they were X-raying pipe or vessels when I drove into work I could feel and taste it in my teeth. Since I got rid of my Mercury fillings, I haven't noticed it, BTW, I also quit working in those crap holes about the same time. Believe it, or, not.

Have 2 towers one in pasture and one in crop land, think they need 10 acres to fit in guide wires, they have a small fenced compound at base of tower that they keep tidy. The tower on pasture land doesn’t have a access road to it cows graze around everything, the tower on crop land has a graveled access road, and can be a bit of a pain to operate around guide wires. As far as compensation I’d say they pay better than a similar oil/gas site and you still get to use 80% of the 10 acres, also have never had any issues with getting payment from them, but they are a eye sore, one is a mile and a half from home place, I’m also pretty sure they are not hooked to 3 phase, not sure how they decide where to put them the one doesn’t make much sense to me because it isn’t on high ground, kinda in a gully. That’s my $0.02

One of the concerns for my father was that it is gonna be put onto crop land and to always have to go around. It would be a matter of time when someone will hit something. He is hoping that they be willing to put onto some hay land where it isnt that big of deal.

So do they have to plaw in a cable to these towers. or do they just act as a repeater.

I get the concern about hitting things but guidelines are fenced in such a way that height clearance isn’t a issue, only thing that I’m super careful with is high clearance sprayer, then again maybe I’m just used to it after 15 years

The thing mostly likely will hit something is the sprayer as got to keep the speed up to have the pressure.

Most likely they'll back-haul using microwave repeaters. Although if it's close to a fiber trunk they'd probably hook to that. What about power?
If you do go for this, tell them you want unlimited, non-throttled internet access through smarthub indefinitely. It would be no cost at all to them honestly.

I'd be telling them to go pound sand, hopefully your neighbors do the same. I don't think we have any idea what they might hang on that tower down the road and what it might do that affects your family's health, but once you sign the contract you will have given up your right to say no...

That is also one of my concerns is across the road is owned by a big farmer who doesnt live in the area and the other quarter is transferred to the son that also doesnt live in the area. Im hoping that the consultation will fall through.

Strictly from a land value aspect. The best grossing crop you can get off that area times that by 3 is what I would ask for plus a 5-10% increase every year. I do that with any oilfield and have yet to meet any real resistance.

From the money side of things its double of what I get for a gas well. And its 2% a year increase. Yes you cant make that by per acre basis even on good land. If its somewhere that I could see it from a distance then I dont care, but when I would turn onto our road and a tower is the first thing I see I would loath that. But I cant control what other land owners want to do with their land. Also its amazing how small of a area they want this in, alittle over a mile wide by 2 miles.
Oilfield is a horrible example to compare, as how many orphaned and abandoned wells are in the area. They can sure make them but the cleanup is poor. There is a sequoia gas well on one of the properties and there isnt any money coming in anymore as they filed for bankruptcy and still in courts after two years of proceedings. Telus I believe wont go away anytime soon but you just never know what would happen sometimes.

Sounds like your going to have to look at it no matter what, way I see it you may as well have it on your place on your terms vs neighbors. It’s a tough call I can’t say I would be thrilled about it on my home place. I recently had a 500kva power line built across the fence from some of my land, not much I could do but I get to look at it and get nothing out of it, may as well have been on my place and got something for it considering I get to look at it any way

Kind of like wind turbines. If all the neighbors that don't live around you are putting them up you just as well sign up for the money because you're going to look at the damn things anyway.
Yeah, I'm bitter about that.
