I see in the parts book that on a cr macdon wants stripper plates put on the adapter, but ive never seen anyone that actually uses them, do they help anything? i seem to have trouble getting it from the adapter auger into the feederhouse smoothly in high humidity conditions. already have more fingers added. I feel like the rock retarder feederchain drum isnt helping either

In my experience with a wide body CR8090, I took them off when I cut the RTD flighting back & added fingers. Think these plates are only for the narrow body machines like 9060 & Gleaners.

We used them on our CX and cr9070. Never had issues feeding with them.

Did cutting the flighting back help anything for really damp conditions? This thing flies until it gets really wet then turns off like a lightswitch while the case can keep slugging away during the night without to much feeding issues.

I did the same to my D65 rice draper ...... no problem at all. Just note, make sure you use genuine MacDon finger guides here. The genuine are a little thicker & this bit matters.

Yeah I added 5 of the macdon finger per side, but I have not cut flighting, was a little nervous on doing that, but if you guys say that will help I will.
It hardly makes sense on why it wont transition from the fd70 auger into the feederhouse. I also bought some more links for the feeder chain, I'll see how far out i can stick it from the feederhouse.

Yep, New Holland CR’s don’t feed as well as a Case when conditions aren’t good or in bulky crops like canola. I think the reason is the feeder drum is held down so the ASP works. I used to lift that drum up when doing canola & it certainly helped. The DSP feeder definitely feeds better but it has more bits going round & round ....... wearing out! You cut the long flighting back so it line up with the inside of the feeder face. Make sure you reweld in the support brace at the end of the flighting.

Maybe a long term investment might be a turbo drum Bob........... but I understand you want what you paid for to work First.

I used to lift that drum up when doing canola & it certainly helped. I've always had mine on 1 or 2, I'll have to try lifting it in bushy crops then. Did you ever swap sprockets on the macdon main drive box?

No .... I’ve never changed the sprocket to gain RTD speed. Lifting did certainly help but put it back down if your doing crops that hug the ground ...... where “gremlins” live.
