If anyone thinks hunting is cruel, they should watch how Mother Nature keeps the population in check. That deer I found rotting in the yard this summer ( laying off to the side of a mowed area in the tall grass ) , I will never know if it was injured by being clipped on the road or perhaps this is what it died of, simply laid down and died of a disease.

First curling game of the season. Was asked to fill in and it’s official I’m out of shape and still not that good at curling but we are pretty good at drinking beer and won a free pitcher.

Here’s my new hunting buddy! He’s been home all week from school with a cough, I would have sent him today if it was up to me, but oh well. So haven’t been out yet this week because I’ve had him all week, but told him to get his stuff on, we’re going to papa’s shack, only got out for a hour or so but sure beats being at home. He was pretty excited.

Haven’t been out hunting much yet, usual life stuff getting in the way. Haven’t got a deer, the opportunity just hasn’t presented itself yet.

This is a first. They have extended the mule deer season now from December 19 to February 3. Not sure what prompted that but maybe I’ll actually get a chance to get out now!

They are worried about chronic wasting.

Ya I get that, but for them to add six more weeks after like this has never happened, even years where we were really overpopulated they only made it three weeks instead of two. Has me worried that they have been finding a lot of positive deer, or they didn’t get enough for a good sample.

Waaaayyyy cheaper to get the hunters to do the killin'.

Got out for a 70 mile ride today, best snowmobiling I’ve seen in quite a few years. Snow isn’t overly deep but it’s nice and smooth and no sharp hard banks to keep you on your toes.

Took the kids and one of their friends sledding yesterday on some of our valley land, has a good long run with a couple humps and a couple curves, if they make it right to the bottom it takes about one minute exactly. I pulled them back up with the skidoo and happened to keep track of the kilometres I put on. By the time they played out and were wet and getting cold, I had put on just over 20 kilometres going up and down the hill, that’s when it clicked in they had tobogganed a good 10 kms. That would explain why they are in the mood that they are in today.🙄

Speaking of recreation fun, Jay Leno managed to get into another accident! He was driving thru a parking lot on his bike and all of a sudden he got closed lined by a wire dangling across the parking lot! He got thrown off his bike and broke his collar bone, some ribs and a damaged knee. This was after his November mishap where he had gas ignite on his face and had third degree burns.
Man this guy is one tough cookie! and enjoys his toys no matter what to boot. He must have an awesome garage!!!

I'm sure that wasn't much fun, but not as serious as guys getting clothes lined while on their snowmobiles and crossing fence lines! Thankfully I haven't heard much of that lately. Not as many cattle around anymore, and a lot of the old fences are not very high above the ground anymore.

I just read about a snowmobile accident in Candle Lake Saskatchewan where the rider was killed, kind of in meski’s area, do you know anything about it? Always hate hearing about these kind of things, surprising it doesn’t happen more often, I’ve seen people that shouldn’t be allowed to even own one. The Trans Canada trail is just west of my house about a mile, see people all the time going way to fast, and some blowing through stop signs at blind intersections. I’m pretty sure someday they’ll be scraping someone up off the trail. Gives a bad reputation for other riders.
