Dealing on a few used CRs in our price range at the moment, hoping to take a drive and look some over after christmas. They're 07-09 models with 1800-2200 sep hours, we're coming from a good 40yrs of TR machines on the farm so we're not new to the twin rotor setup. What would be the most important areas to look at on a CR of that age/hrs? We know to check the usual belts/chains/tires/etc but are there any specific weak spots or wear items to look out for?

Check the shoe Frame for cracking.

Very reliable machines, other than the shoe frame cracking, I don't know of any widespread issues with that era of machines, I think you will be very happy with them. If you are going from the TR's up to the 9070's, that will be a big step up in capacity and comfort.

Bottom of grain bin worn out under crossaugers is one small thing.

Also top rotor covers, especially the front one with those separator hours if not the high wear package. And the transition from feeder house to rotor tin.

Pull lower bubble up auger and check flighting condition and the gearbox for play. Check rotor gearbox for weaping on input shaft which could indicate needing rebuilt. Mine needed seive bushings at those hours. Rotor driven pulley for wear on ramps and bearings. Play on u joints and drive shaft between sieve drive gearboxes. Pull covers under return and clean grain augers, then look up and back to inspect the bottom shaker pans for cracking. If it doesnt already have a bearing mounted on the outside of the right side feeder drive intermediate shaft you'll want to either do that or change the bearings and flanges every year. Good machines, they've got some wear items but relatively simple to maintain. I've posted the full tech manual on the other site but can link it here if you want

Whats the best way to inspect the rotor covers? How do you determine how much life they have left?
For the sieve frames are the cracks generally easy to see? Is there a certain section that tends to crack more or is it all over the frames? I'd assume you just crawl in the back of the machine to check the top sieve frame and inspect the bottom through the clean grain/return auger troughs like was mentioned.
Not sure I totally follow what you were saying about having a bearing on that shaft Bob123, where on the machine/which pulley am I looking for? Did they switch bearing location or add another bearing to take the load?

The seive frame if it would crack would crack at either below the front pivot, the front corners, or just behind the fan bearings. The years you're looking at I thought that problem was mostly solved. Rotor covers just check for gashes looking at them under the grain tank, and pull the front half moons off, 3 bolts each and make sure all the veins are still there. In my opinion they arent super fussy, as long as the veins are there and they arent worn right thin dont worry about them. They might get the odd rock dent but that's mostly cosmetic.
