I’m not sure about the frogs, heard them for the first time a couple nights ago, no way I could be seeding. My grandpa used to say you should have your wheat in before the leaves come out. Heard a guy around Rivers is going to put some peas in tomorrow, I was down that way and some fields look to be dry enough but I would think the ground would still be quite cold.

My grandpa said you shouldn’t seed wheat till the leaves are coming out. Haha
And the frogs have to freeze up 7 times

I’m thinking of putting some granular fertilizer down on Thursday for corn. I’ve never grown corn before. Then it’s supposed to rain on Friday. I won’t put any seed down until next week.

Leaves aren’t out yet but frogs are sure busy ! Will see how much rain actually arrives on Friday . Doing some burning today and looks like fields are in nice condition ! Just the soil is too cold for my liking ! Do you guys feel treating cereal seeds pays ?

We never treat anything and have never seen any problems because of it, but we also don’t try sowing a month earlier than we should.

Never have recorded a yield gain from cereal seed treating, and have probably done close to ten trials, most with two to three replications. Like kevlar I don't mud stuff in when fields are barely fit to drive on and I don't seed crappy seed.
Lots of activity around here now, little wheat in and might put some peas in ahead of forecast rain on Friday. Ground too cold for corn still, maybe next week if it stays warm. Still frost about 18" down when I did some digging this week.

Sky sure looks dusty today . Hate to see the south wind blow up soil !
Maybe even some smoke in the mix ! Call me lazy but I don’t want to be fighting the wind today ! Ha !
Some guys here have all their cereals in and want to start beans next week ! See that is how hectic it gets over here ! lol

Same here today, really windy then started to cloud up and look hazy like it was smoky, but maybe it was dust?

Crazy dusty here too, felt like my eyes where getting sandblasted filling the tank. I think we will get to 1/3rd done seeding tonight. Should have the cereals done with a few hours to spare before the rain starts tonight

Just checked the ground temperature in my mothers garden, between 3-4 degrees and that’s bare black soil.

Just checked the ground temperature in my mothers garden, between 3-4 degrees and that’s bare black soil. I don’t think this week looks promising here! Snowing a bit off and on and showers ! Hate to look at forecast at this time of year! 3-4 c is not promising ! Looks like the maple leafs will soon be out ! Sure sign of good seeding weather !! Go bruins !

Could be putting down Edge today, everything ready to go but ground still seems like the frost is not far down and holding water in soil of low areas, ground is sloppy there, not sticky mud. Went to elevator on Saturday to pickup some chemicals to put in shed and nobody working the weekend so probably a good sign that other people are thinking it's not go time just yet.
Garden very dry on top. Windy days and lots of nights below zero is drying out the top. Not much for weeds growing yet, lawn about 50% green. A nice rain will get things growing and help get the frost moving.

It was below freezing for most of the night and I saw -5c early this morning, I heard there were some parts of the Peace that got started seeding days before the middle of April, not sure what is happening with that seed. We hardly have anything of any sort growing in fields, weeds or volunteer which is really odd but says something about the conditions this spring.
