Ad from a somewhat local junk dealer I've dealt with a few times, seen this a while ago, looks like they still got it... www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-other/edmonton/caterpillar-fairbanks-morse-magneto/1425485953Have no idea if thats the same as yours or not. I do have several mags for parts or working myself, nothing I recall being Cat yellow but some have been rebuilt too. Bought a big box of them and alternators at a sale many years ago, come from some rebuild shop, many had tags on them still. Wonderful assortment that sure comes in handy, I got more than a few things still running mags myself.

AB I think the kijiji mag fits a big 6 cylinder marine engine. But it’s nice to see theres new parts kicking around.
My mag does appear to be a little weak but once it starts it runs the pup perfect.

Tsipp, try changing the condensor. Last one I changed was in a Fairbanks mag on an AEN Wisconsin on a three inch pump, closest one I had in size dimensions was a Motorcraft actually an old one I think out of my '67 Merc, worked like a charm, smartened the spark right up in that case.

I changed it but I left the old one hooked up and maybe it’s shorting out a little, it’s long and thin and I didn’t have one even close to the same size so the new one is mounted externally, I didn’t touch it today as I was working on the honey doo list.

I know this has nothing to do with the original post, but I always wanted to know what was involved in a total rebuild of a magneto. I have never went that far into one. Plus she is a looker, thanks youtube lol.

It’s a lot easier working on the small stuff with small nimble hands.
