May I ask for you guys to give you opinions and experience with seed treatments? I wondered most years we get cool wet springs and wondered if a treatment would guard against seedling diseases in wheat oats or barely . I have never used treatments during seeding except canola and beans
I wondered if they help if you get a 2 inch rain in late April seeding? Do the treatment prevent seed rot ? In all my years of farming I have never got answers and hard to trust seed reps !

I have yet to see seed treatment pay in wheat, have done many many trials with many different treatments. No data in oats though. Make sure you use good seed and do a trial, you might be surprised at what you don't see at the combine. That is as far away from harvest as you can get to affect seed production, something has to be really wrong with the seed or conditions to see yield. But I can verify treating seed is a PITA and risks contamination of lots of equipment...

Dad was always a believer in buying certified treated seed every year. When we budgeted inputs this year I convinced him to clean our own seed and skip the treatment. We had 9in+ of rain and no heat the month after seeding and germination was great. No noticeable difference in plant stand but a very noticeable difference on the balance sheet now come harvest. On the flip side, I've also seeded certified treated wheat for a neighbor on marginal ground and had seed rot in every low area. Not really convinced it has any use even on the cold wet springs. This is also all spring wheat, I've never seeded treated oats or heard of anyone around here treating them

We treat our early wheat and barley. Don’t do oats anymore.

We also treat wheat and barley. Have never treated our oats. Maybe works for some as conditions vary. We always seem to be seeding into cold ground so I think it helps protect the seed when the germination is slowed by the temperature, at least in our area.

I don't have any experience with cereal seed treatments. Not sure what to look for in our stands that would lead me to believe it's necessary.

I dropped all chemical seed treatments. Except bought canola. Adding more biology. I’ll be hard pressed to ever buy a fungicide or insecticide ever again. They cost you a lot more than you realize.
