Well, this is my plan, of course always subject to change! I’m going to build all the frame with joists, flip it over, put some poly on it, then 1/4 inch hardware cloth, supposedly that will keep mice and squirrels out, then put the sill plate on. Flip it back over and put on the trailer and bolt it down. Lay in fibreglass insulation then plywood, should be good to go from there. Had thought expanding foam insulation would be nice but would be pretty costly. Maybe down the road I can do that.

Got the first few boards cut today and 2 joists in place! Slow and steady! lol It's a start I guess, but as usual other things came up.

Very slowly coming along. Hope to get it squared up and bolted to the trailer tomorrow. Built the floor in the shop upside down so I could put house wrap on the bottom and 1/4 hardware mesh to hopefully keep out all the critters, sounds like many people have had luck doing this way. I pulled it out and used the loader to flip it over and set on the trailer, went pretty smooth, was worried the wind today would cause more issues setting it on the trailer but it was minimal. Now to insulate and sheet it.

I'm not a carpenter but I enjoyed this video. He makes it look easy...

Still slowly picking away at this thing, so far quite happy with all my decisions. My "helpers" are pretty excited, they can't wait until the loft is ready.

Just remember to make the top of the roof lower than the door it is going out. Remember hearing of a guy who forgot that until he tried to take it out of the shop.

That’s about all I can do inside the shop or it will be too high for the door. Had a friend build a fish shack that he built inside his shop, when he went to pull it out, it was wider than the door! lol. He was lucky that it would just fit out the door when he took the tires off.

Just thought I would try out the new way to load pictures. This is from standing in the loft, sitting area with table will be at the front, which will be windows on all 3 sides.

Slowly still picking away at this thing, get a few hours here and there. Once I got done what I could do inside the shop, it was way too cold to work on outside but has finally warmed up nicely.
Getting to the rafters now. Will be glad when the roof is on, tired of shoveling snow out of it.

This is as far as I've gotten. Between poor weather and life getting in the way, progress has been slow, was hoping to have had more done, but oh well, should have it usable sometime this summer, fingers crossed. Have it sitting in the shed as it's not dried in yet, hard to work on it when it is wet or raining so had to move it in and out of the shop every time we worked on it. I think I'm going to be happy with it.
We were standing back and looking at it one day, it occurred to us it looks like an old steam powered train, will even more so when I get the chimney up and a fire going!

Nice job so far 👍, gives a new meaning to if this house is a rocking don't come a knocking. Might need some stabilizing jacks lol.

Progress has been quite slow on the cabin this summer, too many other things on the go, mostly camping and just enjoying life really. Got a few things done a couple weeks ago. It’s been tying up our shed all summer because I don’t have it dried in yet, so that means most of the equipment has been sitting outside! lol. Mind you, spring dragged on forever so technically it hasn’t been out all that long! Got most of the windows bought, slowly picked away buying them, got some pretty good deals that way, have to be quick though, missed out on some stuff and it had only been posted for a couple minutes before I seen them and they were sold. Only windows I can’t seem to find are two for beside the loft beds and need to be fairly specific, so might have to get new ones for them. Should have a good view from it, almost the entire back end will be all windows. In the last picture I have on here, the two are already cut out, the wall behind the ladder I have two big picture windows that are almost the full size of the wall. Should be able to spot the deer easily from the table! Might get some work done to it if the weather doesn’t smarten up, can work on it while I dry some more grain.

Still not getting anything done with the cabin, but did acquire a solar panel and controller thanks to skfarmboy! Took the two hour drive this morning out to his farm, a very nice guy and has an absolutely beautiful setup on his farm, the kind of place many of us dream of someday having. Got to have a nice visit and he showed me around his shop, certainly a lot more organized and tidy than mine!
I want every part of this cabin build to have a story behind it, using second hand and used parts as much as possible. Now he gets to be a part of my cabin build story! Thanks again skfarmboy!

Finally getting a few hours here and there working on the cabin, weather has been a little better so get a few hours in the afternoon. Got most of the roof tinned and most of the walls wrapped, at least now I don’t have to shovel the snow out, getting closer to it being dried in. A little more wrap to put up then can get some windows in. Put it in the shed today because it was getting so windy I was worried about it ripping the wrap off.
