So I don't need to sign up with Imgur?
When I get the Imgur screen after clicking on upload image link, I then tap on the link to "browse from device". But nothing happens. It could very well be my tablet is not playing nice, but want to make sure. I did try creating an account in Imgur via the link that also shows up but I get as far as entering my email address then all functioning ends.
So seems I have a software/hardware issue I will need to solve unless I am missing something in this process.

I don’t have an account and I’m able to post. Could be a setting on your device that won’t allow it to access your pictures.

It should bring up imgbb, not imgur and no need for an account with the first one. Try using the take a picture, that brought up the files on my android too. If that doesn't bring up your files then you probably have a permissions problem on your tablet.

Yes imgbb. I will look into some settings. Either link: "browse" or "take picture", have no functionality. I tap on either one, they then show an underline, but nothing happens. Haven't tried posting with the laptop yet so that will come later to sort this out. So if I am not using the upload function it is not because I am being old and crusty.

Made some progress here. In my Android app of the tablet there is a setting to enable access to storage and camera. Never had the "camera" enabled. I doubt I looked there before and even if I did I would have passed it off as irrelevant as I am looking for files in storage already so shouldn't have anything to do with pictures via camera, but as usual, software people think differently.
