Based on quality and features which side by side ATV do you guys recommend? I was looking at Polaris rangers for the farm and wondered the pro s and cons of Polaris vs Artic cat. Which other brands are worth considering? This is one purchase for the farm which is kind of fun to pick out new! Surprised very little used ones out there on kijjii . Honda looks like a good one too, and is the extra cost worth it?

Depends on what you're after. Watch box size, that can vary greatly. I have a Polaris Ranger 900 xp, all kinds of power, almost too much. Power steering is a must.
Good luck finding one. UTV and ATV are impossible to come by here right now.

I have a Polaris ranger 1000 I got last year. So far no trouble with it. Only got 1600km on it though. I’d buy one again. I wouldn’t buy an arctic cat but that’s just me. All the other name brands I wouldn’t be afraid of. I bought a Polaris cause of the dealer mostly.

I have a Ranger XP 1000 northstar edition. It's so handy, absolutely love it and it hasn't given a stitch of trouble in 700 hours and about 16,000 km.
I love the full cab, heat and a/c makes you feel like a high roller. Haha.

Bought a used Ranger 900 XP with EPS (electric power steering). Very much enjoying it. Gets used for a lot of stuff once you have it. One drawback on the Ranger is a bit of lag time for the transmission to hook up when first getting going. If you stop and start again with out moving the gear selector it is fine. Agree with cptusa on the power steering. Ranger has a good sized box with shock assisted lift. Has turf mode (rear diff not locked up) so you don't tare up the yard when turning.
Also has good power if you want to have a bit a fun. Has a good sized gas tank so you're not filling up too often. Polaris did goof on the air intake on some models. They have a little screen on each side post just behind the seat. In dusty conditions the air cleaner gets dirty too quickly. I just ordered an update kit for it so the air intakes come up behind the seats I believe. Very smooth riding machine.

I had a John Deere Gator 825I for many years, it was okay under what I would call light use(I don't put on the miles some do). I always felt it was noisy and hard on gas, but it never let me down. Sold it and got a Can-am Defender Pro XT HD10. I mostly went that route for the box size and ability to load the front axle better with heavy loads. It's a pretty nice unit but like has been mentioned they all are. I also was looking at a Kawasaki Mule as they have a model with the larger box too, but the one I was looking at sold before I could speak for it...

I have a Kubota diesel. It does;t have a lot of power and doesn't go fast but is great for what I use it for. It;s a work unit, not a toy, cheap to run, has hydraulic box dump. All the features that i needed without any of the "sporty" stuff that i didn't. Certainly not everyones "cut of tea". Depends on what you want

Polaris is a 3 to 9 week wait for build now. Some popular models are 3 week. No used one either available.

I haven’t heard of much good things about some of the cheaper off brand machines. Getting parts for them would be a concern as well.

We bought a little off brand ATV for the kids 2 years ago and I'm pretty sure it's the most worked on piece of iron on the farm by a long shot.
Of course my kids drive it like a cross between the Dukes of Hazzard and Smokey and the Bandit with a little A Team mixed in.

I have a Harley Davidson side by side. Only thing I don’t like about it is that I have to mix gas for it. But one tankful lasts a long time.
