Anybody know where I can take my ecm for repair? IH 9400 won’t start. My mechanic has it narrowed down to the ecm.

yikes $7000 , yeah I see your problem! general choas I wonder if ag express electronics in Indiana or Iowa can fix an ecm. Worth a try. Those guys are incredible at fixing anything electronic in ag equipment. I have used them twice already and saved me thousands.

They have reman units on ebay. Anywhere from $450 and up. I’ll check some of the truck places in Wpg. Maybe they can direct me to somewhere local. If not then I’ll check with the place down south.

I found a place in Colorado called Midwest ECM repair. For $995 with exchange I can get a replacement ECM. Kevlar, you sent that 500 down into the US through Purolator. Were there any issues getting it back to you? Like brokerage fees?

Just happened on here and seen this...had to get one repaired for my N14 few years ago in my 9100 Cornbinder. Was recommended and went thru GoECM out of Texas, and actually went thru their thing on Ebay as for some reason they offered it cheaper there than direct thru them. Repaired my unit and returned it to me, think it was like 700 Can all in plus sending it to them to start. Programmed to my specs no questions asked, Year limited warranty. All worked great, was quick turn around too. Only issue was by doing the Ebay thing, on shipping only the cost of the repair is covered if it is lost, not the cost of the ecm itself. I didn't realize this till it come back to me. Thankfully all went ok. I let them know about this, didn't really seem like it caught their attention though. goecm.com/collections/cummins-ecm?gclid=Cj0KCQjw2tCGBhCLARIsABJGmZ5yN9LllmjAJdirKGUB_fSnTh1dlFrTva8G1gH0cxQCAwT21RS-XxYaAos2EALw_wcBNow as to what caused the issue in the first place, you mention its an IH...IH uses the frame as a ground for the starter. This is what fried mine when things got to where the starter wasn't properly grounding anymore. My brother had seen this often and felt bad for not telling me sooner, as when he hooked up to it when it wouldn't start, and got the code of death, he knew instantly what had happened. Run a dedicated heavy ground from the starter back to the batteries and connect direct to the negative cable assembly in the battery box. Once this is done, problems are solved for future. Its a shame that IH cut that corner to save a few bucks. Same applies to any truck where there is no dedicated ground back to the batteries. Whats stupid is like my old '78 Star was set up like that from new. Same with my '72 HD KW...and people wonder why I stick to the old stuff. Good luck.

Just for your reference, this is the kind of info any of those repair shops will need in order to reprogram the repaired or replacement ECM. Things like axle and transmission ratios are required. I have the line ticket printed off for mine, so had all the numbers, give a call to Cornbinder with your serial number and they will email you the line ticket for your truck. Its free. Copied and pasted this from a word document, hopefully is readable.
Specification for Cummins Celect Plus ECM, part #340-8303RX Sent in for repair by **** **** Farms Ltd. Repair ordered via Ebay transaction 272552966995 March 7/17 Contact phone: 780-689-**** Email: ******@telus.net Truck- 2002 International 9100i with 10 spd Meritor MO-140G10C-M14 OD transmission driving 4.11 ratio rear ends with 11- 22.5" tires Engine- 2002 Cummins N14 Celect Plus 370E-ESP Horsepower rating- 370-435 @1800 RPM CPL- 2591 Engine s/n- 1203**** If possible I would prefer to have the horsepower simply set at 435 rather than the dual rating the engine was set up for originally. When we were checking prior to the ECM failure to set some operating parameters with the Cummins Insite program, it appeared the power rating was set at 370 only. The ECM was replaced shortly before I had purchased the truck, so I'm assuming that this is when things got changed from original. ECM failure occured after a main engine ground failed during start up. Code is 111. Stop engine light remains on after key is turned on and system cycles. Engine will not start. Engine starts and runs as normal with alternative ECM installed, so issue is most certainly within ECM. If possible please retain all parameter settings as to high idle speed, engine fan operating temperatures, ect.

Were there any issues getting it back to you? Like brokerage fees? Never had any issues at all. Don't remember any extra fees added on, I can't remember who shipped it back up but that's likely all added into the freight maybe? Either way, I remember it seeming pretty cheap to ship it. I do remember that when I sent it down, the lady asked what it's value was, and when I told her, she said it would be better to say it was worth less than a certain amount, but I don't remember exactly why that was. Someone who ships more stuff might have that answer. Maybe had something to do with duty? Or it made it more prone to being searched?
