Auction and Kijiji aren’t the only place/way to source equipment. Firing Irion is a new way to get the equipment you need or part with the equipment you don’t.
RB makes a killing. Firing Iron doesn’t charge near as much and you don’t have to instantly make up your mind in an online auction. Equipment is vetted and properly represented by trained agents.
If anyone is interested send me a PM.

I have noticed some of the more recent auctions that prices are coming down, at least I feel they are. Especially for independent opener drills and disk drills, some of those guys took a bath. Just checked out the Ritchie sale in Brandon over the weekend, a Case ATX700 60 foot drill went for $6500 bucks, with blockage monitor, that's basically scrape prices, the way thing are this year, the tires alone on it would be worth that! lol. Then a 2009 75 foot Bourgault 3310PHD for $28,000, is that all they are worth? I have seen some old stuff like what we farm with going for more than this stuff that's only 10 years old. Now I never looked at any of these in person so maybe they are junk, I don't know. Hoping this trend stays up as we are looking at a drill coming at up auction, but with my past experience, everything I want to buy seems to be the same thing everyone else is wanting to buy. Some combines have been pretty decent prices for buyers, tractors seem to be all over the place. Then there is the odd thing here and there that goes crazy high, can never figure that out. Are people just not buying now or has some of the money ran out?

Are people just not buying now or has some of the money ran out? Well that 3310 sat on the RME lot in brandon for at least three years before going to auction, I think originally they wanted over 100K for it. Problem is every hose needed replacing and probably most other components needed a re-build. I'd hate to guess what the parts would cost to get that thing back in running order, and the labor to take apart rusted components would be more than even the biggest bargain hunter would tackle. There was some nice pieces in that sale that went light though, unfortunately one was a twin of the swather I have here that I never use and hoped to sell eventually... ;-|

So in 8 years of use, a 3310 could be wore out enough that it's not worth owning? Yikes!

75’ 3310’s have never sold well at auction. Guys that buy the 75’ plus drills tend to buy new. The 50-60’ drills are better for resale.
The early auctions have always seemed to bring better prices. Guys have spent their money and bought what they need for spring already.

So in 8 years of use, a 3310 could be wore out enough that it's not worth owning? Yikes! If you want to rebuild it all including redoing the cylinders it would seed a lot of acres again. Likely needs some welding on it if the gusset kit hasn’t been put on

So in 8 years of use, a 3310 could be wore out enough that it's not worth owning? Yikes! Normally it should. This particular one was rough, but like meskie said once rebuilt it would go for awhile yet. I had my mouse on the bid button until it got over 20K. Would have made a parts unit or scrap at the very least. Scrap is $250/tonne picked up now!

My neighbour bought a 3310 and 6700 this winter at auction for $80000. Was RockyMountain equipment in Alberta. He put all new tires, primary and secondary hoses on. Needs bushings everywhere from my quick inspection. He replaced the hopper on the conveyor.

Ended up getting a new to us air seeder at auction the other day, I think a pretty reasonable price. Bourgault 8800 58 foot with 8 inch spacing with packers and harrows and a 5440 tank. I was pretty excited to get it home and hooked up, got a company booked to pull it home. Now somewhat disappointed as it might be 2 weeks to get it here because of permit issues with Hydro . Then throw highway construction into the mix and it sounds like the guy is about to pull his hair out, said he's going to keep on them for permits and clearances but with them on strike who knows. Going Friday to pick up the harrows and monitor so I can at least have that installed and ready. Don't like the idea of having zero time before seeding to familiarize myself with it, but I guess the price makes up for it. Maybe that's why not many people were bidding on it? The seller said it would be field ready, sure hope so!

News related to our Canadian budget .....I heard yesterday equipment purchases are 100 % tax deductible in the first year for capital cost allowance for the next three years. Did anybody hear more detail about this? Boy, Freeland is sure trying to buy farmer votes! Not so sure pushing more debt on us is the right tactic. I think this will push up prices even more from more demand and less supply. I get she is trying to stimulate the economy but the right thing to do is quit scaring people with the scourge and varmint crap.
Way to go Kevlar, you will have a lot less tracks and the wider drill will make up for a little latter wait for it to arrive. I know here in the valley if the rain for next two weeks is true, we wont be doing any seeding here for two weeks unfortunately. We are pretty wet here now.

Congrats Kevlar on your new purchase. Your lucky as the auctions in my area are still seeing what I would consider strong prices....at least fo rth estuff I am looking at. Have my eye on some items at one last auction, so I hope the trend you see makes it to this one. Or maybe I am just too tight with my money.
