Looking at getting a different air seeder this spring, looked a couple 8810's in the 52 foot range but they were a little rough. Wanting to go back to 8 inch spacing from the current 10 inch we have been using. Found a 8800 58 foot unit in nice shape, only concern is the transport height. They don't fold up very tight, the outer wings run horizontal when folded, first thing that caught my eye when we went to look at it was the height, the owner thought it was about 18 feet high. I checked out Bourgault's site and something doesn't seem right, unless there is something I'm doing wrong. It claims it's 196 inches high, which is 16.3 feet, but in brackets it says 5.94 meters, which convert to about 19.5 feet! Is that possible? There is no way possible we could move that around here without pulling down all the power lines! I have pulled one down with our 40 foot unit and there are a couple more that we have to lower it right down or fold the wings out a bit to get under. I could believe the 16.3 foot height, but find the 19 foot measurement hard to believe. Does anyone have a similar machine that they know the height of? Hard to find much with 8 inch spacing so easier to go with an older 8800 than looking for the rare 8810 with 8 inch, and some guys think they are made of gold!

I'm pretty sure 40' is gonna be about the tallest in that vintage of cultivator. A 58' will be similar on the 3-plex without the extensions and tipped outward to accommodate the outer wings. I doubt the shanks sticking up on the outer wings would be more than the extensions on the 40'. My guess is slightly lower than 40'.
You should go price new tillage equipment, I think it must be made of gold...

I don't know, to look at it, it sure looked higher than our 40 foot drills but maybe just an illusion? If hydro didn't get so pissy when you pull a line down I wouldn't care so much! God knows they need to do some work and upgrades to the lines in our area, maybe if I pull them all down it might motivate them to do some work? There are some cable lines/fiber-optic lines in town that get pulled down fairly regularly, but they never seem to figure out that they need to be raised.

And right now the bums at MB Hydro are on strike, permits super slow and not sure any lines getting lifted. I gather my drill that I'm supposed to get is gonna be hard to even get towed over here because of this.
I'll dig for an old brochure, but that is going way back...

If you go to Bourgault website on their home page , scroll down to " Download a Product Catalogue", than pick any of the years 2008, 2009, 2011. When you look at the specs for the 8810 is shows the transport height of 17' 7''.
