Where do you bring/send your Labtronics moisture tester for repair and calibration? I was thinking Farmtronics in Regina. They charge $109 to calibrate. If there is some place in Winnipeg I could take it, I could save a bunch on shipping.

We took ours to Quantum Electronics a few years ago now, got it updated to the electronic version, works good. Some guys have said that getting them updated like this are no good but ours is always bang on with the elevators. I remember the guy there telling me something about their updates being accepted by the CGC, or they did work for the CGC, something like that, can't remember exactly. I think they are still in business, that was awhile ago. If you are just wanting to calibrate it, could you just take it to an elevator and do some comparisons?

If you are just wanting to calibrate it, could you just take it to an elevator and do some comparisons? The readings are inconsistent so I’m guessing it might need a calibration or possibly repair.

Also had good luck with Dimo's but it has been a couple of years. If yours is pooched I have an extra tester, new not used yet. MA-405 I believe: www.grainanalyzers.ca/products

Ours was giving inconsistent reading couple years ago also. Sent it away to dimos and it’s been good since. Guy at the elevator told me to put it in a spot and don’t move it. And try to keep the temperature where it is as consistent as possible.

So I took it to Dimo's yesterday. The guy called today and said its old. Really old. Need to replace a bunch of stuff. Could be around $450-500. But he says the circuit board is original and it could crap out anytime so I think I'll buy new. With mine as trade in I need only pay $950.

I think 3”. I don’t have it right now. It’s still at Dimo’s. You're charts would show. They're different for the two different sizes. I have had a second hand 3" for around ten years now. Still seems pretty close to elevator moistures.

Is the repair estimate include updating to the larger cell? MY understanding is anytime they have one of the older ones with the 3" come in they want to do that. Wonder if they'd allow you anything on your old one. I have seen them at sales not working and they sell pretty cheap, not sure if a non worker is worth anything to them or not. Whatever you do, don't get rid of the charts for that 3" cell if thats what it had. I have actually been looking for a set of those for several years now. Can't get them anywhere and so far no one been able to find their old ones for me either lol. I ended up with my father's 919 when I bought the ineventory out of his estate lock stock and barrel, early 80s vintage with the smaller 3" cell, hasn't been used much at all and was always kept in the house where it was warm and dry. Same way I have kept it for the last 15 years I've had it, downstairs on a table surrounded by stacks of service and parts manuals that never got put away. Was the rechargable battery type, but when I brought it home I checked things and realized the battery was NFG so removed it and hardwired a 9V power suppply in place instead. All worked well, but I actually never used the tester, as I still use my TriMet 393, that I have had for many years as well. That TriMet is a portable clone of the 919, uses the same charts even, but its new enough its 3.5". But with the old man's, the charts flew the coup, never did find them, I suppose someone who didn't know what they were threw them away. Same with the scale. But I did get the bushel measure that come with it, but nothing else. Even the charger was missing. But without charts, can't use it even if I wanted too. So if you end up trading it in or whatever, I'd happily send you something for them charts! Or perhaps someone else has a set...same offer

Well Alberta you’re in luck. Although as I looked through the booklet the charts show “Model 919/3.5”. I was ready to put it away when I kept paging through. At page 75 it changed to 3. So there are around 30 pages for the 3” cell.
