Came across a channel out of Hamilton a while back, CHCH. During the day they rotate through all the good shows I and many of you grew up watching and have mentioned here. Wife PVR's the best ones and we watch them in the evening when todays crap is on. Don't think I've seen anyone mention Hill Street Blues.

I think that was a couple of winters ago I came across the Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman shows and I had a good laugh at some of them for the fact that like you Bigtalk, what struck me in awe as a kid was not so much so as an adult but never the less found it amusing to relive the good ole days.
I found a copy of Close Encounters of the Third Kind online today although only have watched a few seconds of it here and there and for sure I've never seen it before. But what has me laughing now and how it appears to be connected to this movie perhaps is what a younger employee at a local grain elevator a month ago said to me about some huge trees on this planet as per some very large stump that exists although he couldn't remember where it was located but thought it was called something Devil. Well I figured it out then as to what he was referring to as its the Devils Tower in north eastern Wyoming and he swore up and down that its the remains of a tree. I am not sure how the topic exactly came up but he had some real whacked ideas about earth formations and I had asked if he had ever been to the west coast in BC to see the huge Douglas Fir or the Redwoods along the coast in California, or the Sequoia trees also in California which are claimed to be the largest trees in the world, also such formations as the Grand Canyon etc etc. Well no, he actually hasn't seen anything or been anywhere to see any sort of formations he talked about in his mind as being secretly hidden by the government as to what they really were.
I can take a guess, he was probably smoking a bit too much weed when watching a movie like Close Encounters, you think we sound a bit off at times talking about twisted world events, well he was on a whole higher level ! LOL.

Used to get a kick out of the six million dollar man how his arm and his legs were "rebuilt" but his back didn't break when he picked up a 5ton rock, ha.

Does anyone remember the movie "Christine" from 1983, I came across a short clip of it and I believe I've seen it but that would be years ago now. It probably came up in youtube links because of looking for "The Car"

I don't know if anyone mentioned the show Columbo, I had forgotten all about that show and came across some reminders of it on youtube. I never would have seen that much of the show but enough to recall Columbo as a seemingly bumbling detective when in fact he was anything but. Him wearing that trench coat and looked like he had just crawled out of a rag bag with his cigar in hand.

My grandpa used to watch Colombo on reruns. If it wasn’t on MASH would be on when I went to visit them.

Who has seen the wind, neither you nor I, but the trees bow their heads as it passes by...
I had looked for this movie online over the last several years and never could find it, I first saw on tv over 40 years ago, be about in '79, the story itself was always a fav of mine as a kid. I even ended up with a sort of special edition hardcover volume of it, was part of the 1980 Alberta 75th anniversary thing, the first line of my post is written on the flyleaf in the front of the book. I don't know if that was added or part of the original work by W.O Mitchell.
Been watching more stuff online these days since I got the better internet with my smart hub and dumped most of the satellite package, and ended up watching a few Saskatchewan movies from the NFB after Chris H off the old forum had posted about one on twitter. It prompted me to try again and low and behold, its now online. Gonna have to download it and get my brother to convert it for me like he has with a few others. You don't see things like this anymore, nor read the books like it either, us old farts grew up in a different time and world, often when I look around, I miss those days. Been watching it for the last few nites, just finished it up here now.

Little off topic but AB mentioned growing up in a different time and missing those days, today's events for me are a sad reminder of that.
I used to show cattle at the state fair 30 years ago, whole group of us from our county, never won a thing it was just a mini vacation. Parents let us wonder the fair grounds and check in occasionally to deal with calves, etc.
Today when we head to the state fair with our kids we'll pass through metal detectors.

I guess you'll need to "scan in" with a QR code too? Makes me sad watching people queueing in long lines, waiting to be tracked and traced by big brother. Reeks of Communist China! Won't be long before we are all chipped at birth! Bring back the good old days! Bring back freedom!

Always enjoyed WKRP In Cincinnati. Best episodes were when Les wanted to play slow pitch against rival station WPIG. Another one was the sobriety test episode with Venus and Johnny!
