Not sure if it's maybe just me or others who run adblockers, but got a message today asking for financial support to ProBoards. Thats all cool, I'm on the record here for saying from the start I had no issues of contributing. Now question is, the message I got seems to indicate that I would be doing this for my own benefit, what I would rather do is have it that actually benefit our entire forum...so can the powers that be let us know if we can kick in some cash to operators of the actual site, but that the Combine Forum would receive the advantage. I know Beerwieser is already kicking some money to cover data limits or such for pics and more as I recall. Its stuff along these lines I am suggesting. Can this be arranged?
I am no techno geek when it comes to the internet, hope I got my point across that I would rather contribute to do something that made things better for everyone, as I'm quite happy with how things are on my end already.
Any suggestions or ideas, lets hear them. Thanks

I just got that same message today as well and perhaps a bit off topic of that theme but this evening I had sent someone a private message on the other forum as he had inquired as to what I and others meant by "a new forum" . So I send him a private message and included the link to this forum. I had even stated in the note that this forum is called "CombineForum" without the "THE" and it just floored me when I sent the message and then looked back at it, their system changed what I said to "thecombineforum" and the address for this site was changed to the other forums website address. That pissed me off !!!, so I tried using the - character randomly in between the website address to confuse it and I think it worked. They sure went out of their way to block this site from being talked about on their own site even within the so called private message system.

I had sent a couple messages to guys also wondering and it changed my link also. It added “THE” in front of it. Private messages aren’t so private on there.
I would be willing to throw some money in the pot also if it helped out this forum also.

Ok, I will look into this freefrorum message as I just got it too. Probably not this evening, but tomorrow morning. I am not overly impressed that all members got it if that is the case. I disabled ad blocks here just because they are not too bad so it is not just you AB.
As it sits I am paying proboards monthly so I ask all members NOT to pay them any money until this shit is figured out. I will do everything in my power to keep this free from excessive ads and spammers. This forum is and always will be moderated by farmers come hell or high water.

The way I read it was it was pro boards asking for money to go into general revenue fund.

Yea Meskie, thats what I got out of it too. I suspected I had got the message since I do run ad blocker and most often have a blue banner across the bottom of page mentioning about supporting them and suspected that was what had triggered the message. Its what I was trying to say in the first line of my post, maybe didn't say that as well as I should have.
When I looked into it, they spoke of how me supporting them personally would benefit me as member, I didn't see one thing there that would do squat for me really. and that was why I was thinking I would rather see the forum as a whole benefit if that was possible. Again I got no issues kicking in at all.

It turns out every proboards member got the request, not just on here. Too bad the rewards are sort of crappy.

I would rather just pay a subscription than what they have offered, seems kind of odd but whatever. I still feel like I should be paying for all the guys here who set this site up, again you did a wonderful job!

They are asking for suggestions for other rewards. I thought of mentioning the idea of rewards that help the site as a whole, rather than individual bs rewards. I think they will do better since there are some sites with thousands of members.
