Those small batteries are good for the grease gun or a light. Not much else. Most our batteries are the 5ah ones have a 12 that came with our chain saw and a 9 that came with our leaf blower.
Only time our grinder stalls out is if the battery is low.

Torriem, do you have a link for those adapters? A few of my Makita crapped the bed so it would be nice to be able to use the remaining good batteries on the Milwaukie.

I've used all 3 dewalt grinders and the Milwaukee fuel one. The dewalt 60 volt is definitely the strongest, completely replaced the corded grinder. I thought the Milwaukee was kind of noisy Too and I really dont like its trigger. I personally own the medium dewalt because it's a bit more compact for getting into places on equipment, but it can be bogged if you really dig in on it. I really like my cordless stuff too, I carry the dewalt 1/2 & 1/4 impacts as well as grease gun and flashlights with me in the combine and it makes short work of any maintenance in the field

Bob, how do you find the dewalt stuff overall? I only had a corded demo saw from them. Liked the design, but failed to soon for my liking. A neighbor has a few dewalt cordless tools and was considering switching to Milwaukee. Is it worth it for him?

Dont ever bother buying the Canadian tire level stuff though, I just have the higher line stuff. The shop I'm fixing combines at this winter has Milwaukee stuff and I have dewalt, other then the flex volt grinder I dont really care either way to be honest. I guess as far as switching is concerned it would depend on how much dewalt stuff he already has, both brands can and will fry eventually. I might consider getting the m12 Milwaukee just for the ratchet in the future though

I gotta say I LOVE my Milwaukee heated hoodie. My wife got me one for Christmas a couple years ago. I wear it basically all winter. It's been washed many times and still works like new!

The Milwaukee line has the advantage of many different tools. Makita makes a good tool and I almost went that way for the farm but I could use some tools like cordless sawzall or 3/4" impact and such where Makita just didnt offer at the time. I see they are adding tools though.
And when looking at flyer prices, the difference is which battery is offered. The box stores will sell with the small battery and so price is always lower there. But you will be better off paying up front for a kit with a bigger battery.
Another thing, if just starting out, look at those multi-tool kits if you think you might have a use for them. Personally, I just have impacts and drill. Need to add a sawzall yet. 4.5" grinder would be nice. Thought a chainsaw would be far down the list but certainly has an appeal for after wind comes through the yard and have branches to clean up or can give to the boys to use. The kits don't always have the best offerings however, like a drill for instance. The Milwaukee top notch drill with 1/2" chuck is pretty impressive but the kits generally come with a mid level one.
So, once a guy decides what type of cordless tool he may want, it tends to narrow down the manufacturer field.

I know lots of contractors that use dewalt and they really like it. Most farms use Milwaukee cause of the range of tools you can get.

We used 2 little dewalt 1/4 impacts the take down 11 19-8 bins and set up 8 on hoppers. Those little guys work great ,the newer one with three speeds twists off 1/4 bolt in seconds and with strip the threads out of the 3/8 bolts . Seems like great little guns for hours of work at a time .

What a coincidence you made this thread. I just ordered the large Milwaukee 1/2' drive from the local Co-op. I have all DeWalt tools. 20 volt saw, angle grinder, drill, 3/8 impact, light, grease gun, recip saw, vacuum cleaner, leaf blower, hedge trimmer. Even some chorded ones. I really like the Dewalt tools. I have some smaller batteries and some bigger ones. I needed a larger impact so I bought a Dewalt from Crappy Tire reg price $500, on sale for $349. When I started using it, I noticed it wasn't very strong. I checked the specs and realized it only had 500 or 600 fp breaking strength. A friend of mine has Milwaukee tools and I used his 1/2' impact. So I'm buying just the 1/2' Milwaukee impact. 1400fp breaking strength. I have too much invested in the DeWalt to switch all my tools over. I also needed a new air impact and I'm thinking this new impact will be stronger than my old 3/4' drive air impact.

I have the Milwaukee 3/4” drive. Very nice tool. But sometimes my 3/4” air impact has more jam. The Milwaukee is fully charge with big battery but old faithful is still a good gun. Just add a little oil.
