While there's no excuse for the willful damage done, and it IS going to cost the farmer quite a bit of time and money to clean it up, the article seems to have some ridiculous claims/untruths just to sensationalize the situation. The bags were open for one night and now the barley is ruined? The barley was worth $85/bu?

Maybe a pis sed off former employee or neighbor. Cant see kids or hoodlooms from a city. If barley is 8.5 a bushel for malt why is he not there hauling it away? poorly written article . Thats too bad for the farmer. About 10 years ago a farmer near Altona Pis sed off a few neighbors by not paying the agreed upon rent. One afternoon ,I heard his new pickup was keyed up pretty good in town. He eventually lost his land base.
More to this story i think.

Sorry general , West of altona maybe closer to roland, had land between there. dont want to mention the poor buggers name. He tried to go big too fast! The guy who bales my wheat and oat straw deals with people burning his stacks down regularly. Its a pain when he stacks them bales in the middle of a quarter but he claims his insurance tells him to.

Just read the story now, see they corrected the price, but wonder if the total value has changed? At the first price there would have been just over 21,000 bushels, but with the $6.50 price there would have to be 276,000 bushels, doesn't look like that much there to me. I know that's irrelevant to the story, but it bugs me when they can't get a simple story right. Makes you wonder what the story is behind it, doesn't just seem like reckless vandalism to me. Either way, I hate vandalism and theft, they both make a person feel so violated.

What kind of idiot puts $85/bushel barley in a grain bag...lol, just kidding.
I hope the vandal got his shorts and socks thoroughly filled with barley dust, and I hope they find him and make him vacuum it all up!
