Some may recall from the *other site, I dreamt of fixing a 4430 I got really cheap with a hole in the block.. Well long story short, the PO ran the poor girl with a rod knock until it wanted to see daylight so, the crank is beat to shit and oil pan full of filings and bearing material, and even the liner is broken, so I can only assume the engine is beyond repair. Found a good cheap 7700 combine with a rebuilt engine apparently done 3 seasons before it was parked. I already cut the cheque for it, so I'm hoping the engine swap will happen easily.
My questions are: The tractor is turbo'd The combine is not, are there any internal engine differences between a turbo and non turbo 404? Also the combine has a rotary injection pump whereas the tractor has an inline injection pump and different injectors... Is it possible to swap over the complete fuel system to the combine engine because I'm sure the inline pump system is superior to the rotary. I guess, so long as the pistons/compression ratio is the same, a guy should have no issues swapping things from one engine to the other...right?? Thanks guys/ gals

Heres the first start up and run after who knows how long (apparently 7 years) since it ran last. I let it run probably over half an hour, it smoothed out very nicely after it got limbered up again, in the video it still sounds a little rough...

I'm not sure myself about the engine internals but I did read about guys putting the bosch injection pumps from combines onto 4430's to help with the cold start problems they are known to have. Its supposed to make them fire up a lot easier. Just something you might want to look into before deciding to switch them over.

Aren't the inline injection pumps the Bosch ones?? My tractor has the inline and the combine has a rotary pump on it... Perhaps guys are taking pumps from later or turbo'd combines...??

You could be right,it could be from a turboed one. I read that about a month ago in facebook's John deere 30-70 group and was just going by memory. I tried finding it again to confirm but couldn't. If I can find it again I'll come back and clarify what the hell I am talking about! lol
