Come across this notice for a photo contest on Twitter today, clicked on the link and then come back to it later to read when I was done Twitter....my mind is thinking I have a few pics of the ole Gator doing its thing, then while reading the instructions I ended up spitting coffee on my computer monitor lol, I know I can't be the only one who never uses the seat belts on those machines, especially when doing chores ect, (though I do make any kid who wants to go for a spin do so)...so guess I won't be submitting a photo into their contest, curious, am I some kind of outdated dinosaur lol Think I might have screwed up and allowed more than one vote on the poll, if so please just vote once, maybe someone can fix that as I can't seem too...my first poll on here, works a bit different www.drovers.com/news/beef-production/drovers-photo-contest-how-do-you-utilize-utility-vehicles-your-ranch

If I’m just cruising around the pasture checking cows or fixing fence I don’t wear a seat belt. If the kids and I go out for a tour or check a couple farther away pastures we will put our seat belts on. I make the kids wear theirs if they go out by themselves to look at the cattle or tour around the pasture. Also I make them wear helmets if they are by them self’s. They are 13 and 11 and seem to be fairly responsible so I don’t have too many issues as long as they stay off the road.

Kids have kids of their own so seat belts are not an issue here. Although seatbelts make for fantastic gate latches in any weather condition.....

Usually I'm on an ATV so no seatbelts naturally there. If I do use my Ranger then 95% of the time I'm buckled. It's got an interlock which limits speed when unbuckled.
I'd probably have it on most of the time anyway because it's become second nature just to through it on in everything, tractors/combine etc included.

Was thinking about this thread earlier this afternoon, was cleaning the barn and using the Gator to haul it away, figured was many reasons not to take a photo... -was not wearing safety boots -wsa not wearing hard hat -was not wearing safety glasses -was no protective guards on the fork -did not have a safety meeting with the cow next door before starting -did not wear my seat belt while backing the gator down the alleyway to the door
I'm sure I missed several others, been a while since I been out of the patch and I'm most likely not up on the latest protocol lol
